The Wedding Pie: Ruth & Vinny

Our next wedding pie is shared by Ruth and Vinny, who threw a gorgeous + fun wedding for just $6000. Here’s how they split their budget pie, along with sage advice from Ruth. We featured their wedding a few months ago, and we’re amazed at what they achieved for what most consider such a tight budget!

From the bride, Ruth: We had 50 people total at our wedding. That included us, our immediate family members, friends, and 2 photographers. My best advice to stay on budget is to set a price ceiling and stick with it. Don’t look at things that you can’t or don’t want to pay for. It’s a slippery slope, and going over budget here and there will eventually add up at the end.

  • Thank you so much for posting this wedding! I am also working on a very small budget (also $6000) and it is so wonderful to see a breakdown of someone’s wedding with the same budget. It is also so encouraging to see how a beautiful and creative this wedding was!

  • Thank you for showing this! So many weddings featured online seem to be so expensive. But this doesn’t look as it was lacking anything and for a fraction of what so many others cost.

  • I have a friend who is doing her wedding on a budget of about the same size. It’s a true challenge. Ruth and Vinny did well!

  • HI All, Thank you so much for your feedback. Honestly, spend the money on a planner. I was able to help the create shortcuts, come up with creative DIY elements and create with the couple to keep the costs down. I know that the myth is that planners will increase your budget or some wont work with certain ones, but the reality is that a good planner will always try to help you achieve your dream wedding within your reasonable budget.
