A Contemporary Rehearsal Dinner with Playful & Bold Colors

Why have just one outfit when you can have three? From modern yellows, to classic whites and an eye-catching burnt orange suit, this contemporary rehearsal dinner is all about the bold colors and patterns. Kruse & Vieira Events designed a sophisticated setting with a gravity-defying floral installation of wispy florals and a playful tablescape that added just the right amount of spice to kick it up a notch. Bonnie Sen captured every awe-inspiring detail and it’s safe to say we’ve fallen under this dinner’s spell.

From Julie of Kruse & Vieira EventsFor this styled shoot, we sought to create a sophisticated, colorful and playful ambiance that one would want for a rehearsal dinner or engagement party, reflective of two families and potentially cultures coming together to break bread.

We found color inspiration from spices, such as turmeric, curry, and paprika pulling in additional pops of color and pattern with the La Tavola linens. The floral arrangements from Sophie Felts Floral Design provided contrast to brighter colored linens with the neutrals of the dried floral elements and accentuated the patterned linens by adding a textural element. Although we kept the silhouette of the florals more minimal and gestural so as not to compete with the table settings and give the pattern breathing room. Bold, modern rentals in matte black and gold from White Glove Rentals gave a balance to the brighter, patterned elements. The paper suite designed by Emily Baird, juxtaposed bold typography and delicate, playful illustrations in a softer iteration of the overall palette.

We wanted to showcase three looks for our couple illustrating how one could translate a bolder palette to everything from engagement photos, engagement party or a more modern rehearsal dinner. Keeping hair and makeup, by Makeup by Ana B, relatively neutral with just a sleek cat eye allowed not only our bride’s natural beauty to shine through, but also didn’t compete with the brighter colored cape dress or print silk number. The blend of bold colors, unique textures, and modern, sophisticated elements coalesced to create a vibrant party atmosphere.
