Romantic Northern Italy Castle Wedding with Warm Terracotta Hues
The rich historic architecture of South Tyrol, the lavish organic greenery and soft pink roses of the bouquets, the effortlessly flowing wedding gown – OH MY! An international couple currently living in Hong Kong chose to return to the groom’s Italian hometown for their nuptials, and boy did they choose right. With the help of some talented vendors, they created a romantic castle wedding in Northern Italy that might even bring a tear to your eye. We are certain that this destination wedding will melt even the coldest of hearts.
Shot by Melli & Shayne, the unparalleled views from the Northern Italian mountains served as the perfect scenery to showcase the pure love Natalie and Paul have for each other.
Every inch of this space is teeming with organic greenery, soft texture and romantic light in a dreamlike ambiance created by talented Italy-based event designers Laura Bravi Events and BiancoAntico.
Cotton soft paper stationery with calligraphy by Wildflowers Calligraphy and stamped with a custom wax seal by Stamptitude brought a touch of old-world elegance and charm.
Natalie’s gown was custom made by a family frien in Singapore, and wow are we mesmerized by it’s illusion neck + lace bodice beauty. A modern day Juliet!
Set at the historic castle of Schloss Freudenstein in South Tyrol, the architecture of this palace did not disappoint, nor did it need much to enhance its natural beauty.
Floral bouquets and arrangements from Nina e I Fiori had a natural and effortless design. Their organic beauty added to the romantic theme of this Italian wedding day without overpowering.
From the Event Planner, Laura Bravi Events: Natalie and Paul brought us to the dreamy mountains of South Tyrol to help them complete the planning and styling of their wedding. The area is the native land of the groom, but they both live in Hong Kong, so it was a semi-destination wedding for them. Me and Viviana were both over the moon happy to be able to work with such a refined couple, with impeccable taste and a great sense of what they wanted their guests to feel and experience. We completely embraced their vision and were able to work with an amazing team of creatives, to turn a charming castle nestled in the “Wine Route” into a wedding wonderland. We played on the already natural beauty adding soft floral and greenery touches, candles, vintage furniture pieces, soft billowy fabrics and ribbons and small decorative touches, in an all natural color palette. Natalie and Paul got ready in the suites of the Castle, and then the small chapel that sits on the Castle main terrace, a little gem that we added natural and spontaneous compositions to, was the stage for a moving, heartfelt and very personal ceremony.
The lovely cloth signage with calligraphy from Wildflowers Calligraphy reads: “Love one another as I have loved you – John 15:12”
Laura Stadler did a beautiful number on Natalie’s soft updo, complete with a golden floral bridal comb.
Cocktail hour followed on the terrace overlooking the valley, with fun photo ops, like the groom’s Vespa made even prettier by a garland of flowers, great wine and passed appetizers. Guests were then led to the amazing blue ballroom, where round tables were laid out around the grand piano, and decorated with lush flower urns, fresh fruit tapered candles and hand calligraphed paper goods made out of the softest cotton paper.
Dinner was a beautiful sequence of the most heartfelt speeches, and ended with guests being led into the courtyard for the a highly scenographic dessert buffet and cake cutting, lit by hundreds of candles and sparklers. Dances followed into the party room of the castle where all guests, coming from all over the world, had fun for the rest of the night.
Natalie and Paul are so in love and are not at all shy to show it, and we really saw their families come together to become one around them, as well as their friends, coming from all over the world to celebrate them, became all one big group by the end of night, making this day very special for more than one reason!
From the Bride: Paul and I aren’t the likeliest of couples given our backgrounds – I am half South African and half Chinese and grew up in Singapore, and Paul is a German-speaking Italian from South Tyrol. We have to thank the law firm we worked for in London, as it was there that we met and fell in love when we both got the opportunity to move to Hong Kong. Since then, we’ve traveled and eaten our way around the world together, united by our mutual love for noodles and pasta (among other things)!
I wanted the overall style to be romantic and organic with loose, unstructured floral arrangements and lots of greenery and candles everywhere. While looking at weddings in this style I stumbled on the stunning work of Laura of Laura Bravi Events and Viviana of BiancoAntico as well as Roberta of Nina e I Fiori. These ladies are magicians, and they made the castle and chapel look like something out of a fairytale. Melli & Shayne, our wonderful photographers, and videographers captured all the stunning details so beautifully. We are so grateful to have had such an amazing team make our day so special.
