This Couple Brought Industrial Wedding Vibes To Their Miami Nuptials

When in doubt, industrial wedding vibes will prevail! University of Miami sweethearts, Nicole and Stephen, went all in for their mod wedding complete with abstract metallic pedestals, tropical foliage and a reception chandelier dripping with terrarium lanterns. We get a little weepy whenever we see the way he looks at her as she takes her first steps down the aisle – even NFL quarterbacks can’t help all the feels! What’s more, this couple did the bulk of the planning themselves, so we are wholeheartedly impressed.

From the bride, Nicole: I kind of tied in two themes, the first one was more blush, romantic for the ceremony as it matched the venue perfectly and my dress had blush tones in it as well. The reception was more my style – modern, organic, industrial. I wanted to tie them in together!

Can we talk for a moment about these contempo ceremony pedestals from Decora Event Rentals? We l-o-v-e the sharp diagonal color block (and the protea-filled arrangements that sit atop them!)

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens has accents of blush around the architecture, and once I selected my dress, everything just fell into place. I wanted the ceremony to feel a little more romantic by using the ombre rose petals down the aisle with more flowers and less greenery in the alter pieces. I tied in the organic industrial vibe by having gold and concrete bases.

There’s nothing like lighting to really set the mood. And we’re pretty sure these suspended terrariums from Illumene did exactly the right trick.

I chose grey for the bridesmaids, as it paired perfectly with the blush and still matched the industrial theme of the reception. I went with the mismatched look and let them all pick their own dresses, and it came out amazing. Organized chaos!

For the reception, it really started with the tent; I really did not want to have a tent as I wanted the venue, with its beautiful architecture to shine through, but because of weather possibilities I knew I had to embrace the tent. Looking at the raw tent and the metal rods, it wasn’t really my style to cover them in linens as that would be too romantic of a setting. I went the industrial way and exposed the metal tent rods, accenting the space with coppers, golds and other metals to tie everything in. The tent is also so large, I wanted a way to have focal points without having the three standard centerpieces throughout the space. The three centerpieces wouldn’t have worked anyways because my head table wasn’t in the middle of the tent. Although it was on center with where everyone entered, my dancefloor was to one end, so I had to think differently.

I designed the one centerpiece over the head table to attract everyone’s focus when they came in with greenery overflowing on top and different metal terrariums hanging below. Above the dancefloor, I wanted random hanging items, and once I saw the olive branches as an option, I fell in love having the organic material and different items hanging randomly to really create a sense of space. I love black accents. so the black and white dance floor was a must.

I’m not really a flower person so I wanted to use tons of greenery instead of flowers. As an architect, I love what landscape can do to a home and wanted that same contrast inside the space. The lush greenery with hints of blush flowers to tie back in the ceremony theme paired perfect with the crisp white linens and gold accented chairs.
