Bright + Colorful Destination Wedding in Maui
There’s hardly a better way to celebrate #WeddingWednesday than with a destination wedding, but when it’s in Maui + filled to the brim with tropical flowers and bright hues? We’re all in. Angie Diaz Photography and Bella Bloom worked beautifully together for Gina and Aaron’s big day, where the couple sought “a bright, colourful celebration in paradise that guests really had a connection to.” We took one look at the scenery and fell madly in love, so we’re pretty sure they pulled it off!
From the bride, Gina: Always the wedding planner and finally the bride, our wedding was a labour of love from start to finish. Aaron and I have been together for 10 years now, adventurers at heart and even nomadic in nature – moving from house to house almost yearly (Aaron flips houses). It was no surprise to anyone that we chose to do a destination wedding. Luckily I’ve been to Maui for other weddings and like most people have fallen deeply in love with the tropical paradise.
Planning was a lot of fun for us. We chose to have only our brothers to be a part of our wedding party and once guests started to confirm their attendance we chose to include as many of them as possible in the plans. We live off of fun experiences and that’s exactly what we wanted to have: a bright, colourful celebration in paradise that our guests really had a connection to. What an honour to have 65 of your closest friends and family join you to the middle of the Pacific.
Even though it was a destination wedding, we still chose to do some DIY projects. Since we’ve moved so many times, we painted small wooden houses and attached house numbers onto them for our table numbers. One of our favourite pieces was our seating chart. Guests would find their name and table number and flip open to a photo of them (most were from crazy party nights, lol). Having our wedding in Maui was really a dream come true. We were able to spend an entire week with our family and friends instead of one rushed day. We shared in so many experiences together including watching a sunrise then biking down a volcano, our karaoke rehearsal dinner and a whale watching cruise. All the details from the food, especially our pizza cake, to our “dranks” bar sign, were all a reflection of us.
