Beach Bohemian Wedding
When lovely photographer Geneve Rege sent us this self described “black tie bohemian” wedding, we jumped all over it! Becca and Chris’s fresh take on the beach wedding goes to show that not all beach nuptials need to be rainbow umbrellas and flip flops. Instead, this wedding has notes of both Great Gatsby glamour and artisanal touches that make it music to our winter-weary ears. Go ahead and revel in all the details in our gallery and oogle that gorgeous tent! Thanks for sending it over, Geneve!
From the bride, Becca. From the beginning of planning our wedding, Chris and I used the term “Bohemian Blacktie” to describe our wedding. We envisioned something that was fancy and whimsical but in a comfortable way. We told our guests that the dress code was anything that made them feel the most fancy and in their skin.
Cape Cod holds a special significance in our relationship so we knew we wanted to be married on the beach, but we also knew we didn’t necessarily want a beach-themed beach wedding. We just wanted the peaceful, powerful, magical quality of the sky, sand, and sea to come through in the style of our wedding. Chris proposed to me at sunrise in the exact same spot on the beach where we had our wedding so there wasn’t really any other place on earth that could have felt more right for us to celebrate our marriage!
We collected vintage keys and glass bottles all year from various flea markets and antique shops and they served as our placecards and centerpieces. Chris and I tied little tags onto each individual key and wrote all our guests’ names and table numbers on them. A friend lent us a gorgeous antique barn board door which we nailed 120 pegs into to hang the keys. Above the door we placed a hand-painted sign that read “You hold the keys to our heart”.
We (along with my mom) collected HUNDREDS of unique vintage glass receptacles and each table had different shapes and sizes of glass. They were all filled with combinations of sand, shells & stones (that Chris, our bridal party and I collected the day before), water, lavender freesia, and candles.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings? The greatest advice I can offer is to embrace the whole range of emotions that come up as a bride. It’s a huge rite of passage and the dark emotions are just as important and valid as the joyful ones! A bride should never be freaked out if they find themselves experiencing feelings of separation, loss, or anger—that’s all part of the messy, beautiful, rich transition! I feel like, personally, embracing the dark and the light was what allowed me to be really present and grounded when the big day finally came!

love the ‘team bride’ and ‘team groom’ buttons. CUTEness.
Wow. The bride’s wedding and engagement rings are beautiful! Can you share where they are from?
Oooh. Such a charming wedding! Looks like a Twigs & Honey feather flower!
that tent is just crazy amazing! love this wedding!!!
I have been searching for a place like this for almost two years. I want to be married on Cape Cod but no homes will rent for a wedding. Lots of hotels and other places wont let us play music or wants the party to end at 10. I know my friends, thats not going to happen. If the bride sees this and knows if the private residence will allow another wedding, we are willing to pay!! My email is kittenspit6@aol.com
Love, love, love the vintage keys!
Oooo the rapunzel wedding cake is amazing!!
Absolutely Stunning! I love the vintage keys and vases. And the venue is so breathtaking. Love it all…
this wedding has such lovely little details! the ‘team bride’ and ‘team groom’ buttons are super cute as well!!
I love her engagement ring! What a beautiful wedding!
The cake topper was Romeo and Juliet.. the bride once portrayed Juliet and the groom once played the part of Romeo in Shakespeare in Delaware Park in Buffalo, NY …different productions in different years…but these star crossed lovers found each other…Their love was meant to be!
Those wedding rings are just lovely.
i totally agree and appreciate the bride’s comments about the range of emotions that come up during the “transition”. overall getting married amazing! i hope to share some pics of our wedding some time soon, it was vintage, very intimate and magical!

what a handsome couple!
looks like everyone had a fabulous time and much thought was put into every detail!
Any chance we can find out where her rings are from? They are stunning!
Hello all!! This is Becca, the bride! It’s an honor to have our wedding posted here and i have had so much fun reading all the comments! Seriously, they made my week! Thanks for all the lovely words!
There were a couple questions about my rings…they were purchased by my husband from a store in London that makes Edwardian reproduction jewelry. (I spent half a year there during college and it holds a very special place in my heart so my husband knew having a little piece of that city on my finger would mean the world). If anyone needs more specifics email : beccainbklyn@gmail.com
Looking forward to any more questions or comments ! thanks for all the love <3
too gorgeous! i can’t help but love each and every detail. From the happy florals to the vibrant color palette and everything in between, it’s a wedding worth getting lost in for awhile. bride is so beautiful…
