Texas Thunderstorms Couldn’t Stop This Icelandic Poppy Wedding Parade
You know what they say! April showers bring May flowers… and sometimes some leftover sprinkles as well. Angela and Brent’s Icelandic poppy wedding may have seen some flash thunderstorms, but that couldn’t stop cheerful colors and classic romance from taking center stage throughout the Texas soiree. Gypsy Floral & Events festooned the space with coral, blush and butter yellow hues and paired with the velvety linens and tassel accents from Blue Sparrow Events‘ design direction, the day was nothing if not a kaleidoscopic of fresh, summer beauty. Yep. We were all destined to see this gallery from Mustard Seed Photography today. There’s no time like the present to see how bright your wedding colors can shine in the light of glistening rain! Hey, it’s pretty lucky too đŸ˜‰
From the Planner, Blue Sparrow Events: When our lovely bride Angela picked May 1st as her date for her wedding in Austin, Texas, we were expecting sunshine and warm weather for an outdoor celebration in the courtyard of the Allan House, a historical Victorian venue in the heart of downtown. She even looked back through 10 years of historical weather data to confirm the chance of rain being low. In these unprecedented times, of course, mother nature had another idea for us, bringing a complete 180 degree turn in forecast from sunny skies to 100% chance of rain a mere 72 hours in advance. With that turn of events, Angela ordered 40 clear umbrellas to be delivered by rehearsal time and we devised plans B, C and D to still utilize as much of the outdoor space as possible, depending on what the weather might do that day.
On the day of the wedding, we had flash flood warnings during set up but remained hopeful as it looked like we might get a break in rain come ceremony time. As they say, rain on your wedding day is good luck and with 30 minutes to ceremony our luck had kicked in when the downpour lightened to a drizzle. We were able to have the ceremony that Angela had been dreaming about for years in the romantic courtyard of the Allan House under the centuries old oak trees before the skies opened up again.
Angela’s vision for her wedding day was happy, modern, fun, colorful and fresh which she absolutely achieved, with thanks in no small part to the outstanding team of vendors who were all ready to roll with the punches to make it a wonderful day for Angela + Brent. We had the brightest blooms from Gypsy Floral. Fun, modern stationery was provided by Paper Place and gorgeous peachy velvet linens from Marquee Event Rentals which all brought sunshine to an otherwise cloudy day.
Their first dance was on the veranda in front of their closest friends and family while Mark with Exodus Sound crooned Fly Me To The Moon. Dinner was cozy and quaint on the white wraparound patio with soft rain in the background making it nothing short of idyllic. Every moment was captured so beautifully by Mustard Seed Photography.
While Angela + Brent’s wedding was nothing like we had planned for originally, it was a perfect day that represented them so well: sweet, colorful and classic.
There ain’t no getting over this Icelandic poppy wedding, that’s for sure! Our strategy? Keep the Icelandic poppy inspo coming!
