Butterflies and Music Inspired This Wedding In A Colorful Botanic Garden
Witty puns, whimsical butterflies and music inspired wedding ideas took center stage in Shreyas and Christine’s summertime wedding in a botanic garden. Conceptualized in full color by Details, Darling, this multicultural soiree honored Shreyas’ Indian upbringings and Hindu traditions alongside Christine’s California background and Christian faith in equal parts modern, fun and meaningful moments. With Nicole Catherine Photos behind the lens, a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors were brought to the forefront poppy oranges, glossy cranberry, pretty periwinkle and plush teal to name a few! The color palette was echoed in the floral designs from Joy of Bloom Florals, and the result was quintessentially Californian. C+S even performed a musical number for their guests during the reception! Talk about the wedding of a lifetime. We can’t wait for you to kick back and enjoy perusing their day with us below!
From the Planner & Designer, Aubrey from Details, Darling: Christine and Shreyas met at a friend’s birthday party and instantly connected on their love and passion for music. Both had been attending USC Marshall for their MBAs, but their paths never crossed until this party and had no idea that this would be the beginning of their love story.
They ended up in some of the same classes and would continue to exchange their favorite songs, new songs or lyrics they discovered with one another. Despite how different their lives were – Shreyas was born and raised in India with Hindu upbringings and Christine a California native with a Christian background – their love for one another and connection via music kept them together. Shreyas would continue to sing to Christine to help her fall asleep, and Christine would continue to take Shreyas to concerts and music festivals like Coachella.
We wanted the wedding to be intimate and representative of what brought us together, and that was music! We didn’t want to lose the overall vibe and feel of the Rose Garden itself so we combined our love for the outdoors and music. The wedding experience was envisioned to feel like a romantic garden concert, and we opted for a colorful wedding because music in our minds is colorful and brings joy!
We weaved music related aspects throughout the entire wedding- we had a singer sing our wedding aisle song “ILYSB” by LANY and instead of a first dance, we did a first song together with Shreyas’ former band ‘The Fringe Pop’. Our wedding planner, who is incredibly creative, brought in music related details by placing tambourines on each of the guest chairs to allow for everyone to sing and dance along and had beautifully crafted seating charts utilizing instruments and music sheet notes.
The Rose Garden has butterflies everything, so we thought it was only fitting to incorporate unique dinner plates with beautiful butterflies on them and gifted each person a pressed floral lollipop at their seats.
Music brought us together because it doesn’t judge what race, religion or nationality you are. It heals, brings joy and provides an escape for many and that is the kind of wedding experience we wanted to create.
There’s so much to love about Shreya and Christine’s music inspired wedding, but if we had to choose a favorite design moment, it would have to be the calligraphed tambourine table numbers! The definition of charming. See more music inspired wedding ideas we’ve bookmarked through the years here next!
