6 Tips for Styling Your Fall Table from Entertaining Experts
There’s no denying that fall is our favorite season, and with this time of year comes a lot of entertaining. Holiday parties, cocktail celebrations and al fresco fetes to name a few! So with all these in the pipeline, we turned to Valley & Company Events, who knows a thing or two about styling tables. They’re the designers for the fabulous tablescape collaboration below and are here to put in their two cents about how you can achieve this same fab look!
From the stylists, Aleah and Nick of Valley & Co : When the air turns crisp and days grow shorter, our calendar starts to fill with intimate gatherings with family and friends. It’s a favorite time of year to slow down and really enjoy the changing of seasons and catching up with our loved ones.
A fall table set for entertaining doesn’t need to be overly dressed to be stylish. We’re strong believers in creating experiences for our guests and creating beautiful celebrations that are comfortable, first and foremost. Here are some of our favorite ways to create a festive and fun fall gathering:
ONE
Dress up champagne flutes with little flower corsages by wrapped short stems with green flower tape and tying around the stem with ribbon. Welcome your guests by greeting them with a champagne (or sparkling cider) on a wooden tray.
TWO
Think about creating a gorgeous statement centerpiece primarily with just-turning leaves, greenery, and subtle fall-hued flowers. You’d be surprised what beautiful ingredients for an arrangement you can find in your own yard or neighborhood. Stage your showpiece on a sideboard or coffee table and fill your dining table with candles for an unexpected look.
THREE
Go family-style for meal service, passing around platters of simple hors d’ oeuvres like rosemary crisps with a rich soft cheese and fig jam, seasonal salad, root veggies roasted in the oven with olive oil and herbs, and an entree that you can start cooking early in the day (like a beef or pork tenderloin). Pre-buy or make as much in advance as you can so that you can enjoy your guests!
FOUR
As fall evenings are dark so early, line your entry and your dining table with candles to put out a festive glow.
FIVE
Even if it’s with simple items like an herb sprig or a single flower stem, welcome your guests to their place at the table with a well-dressed setting. It’s the effortless simple touches that can be so thoughtful. For Thanksgiving celebrations, we love to hand write notes to our family members telling them what we’re thankful for.
SIX
Bid your guests good night with take-home sweets they can enjoy on the way home – place little fabric bags with chocolates or cookies by your front door.
